ONE TIME OFFER $59 (Retail Value $95) 300 bottles remaining and then it's gone forever: You round the final curve into La Morra, and the hills stop being poetic.
They get specific. This Barolo does not come from Annunziata, but from another single vineyard in La Morra—quiet, disciplined, and deeply known to the Cascina del Monastero family. They know which rows greet the sun first and which ones hold their breath until October. The year was 2019. A certified five-star vintage according to the Consortium of Barolo—though the wine hardly needs credentials. Just 7,000 bottles were made. Decant it now and it stands tall. Plush, round, and concentrated. Elegant and restrained power create suspense like a great story. ironed tannins, rose petal, sour cherry, cedar, a whisper of truffle thinly sliced to melt in one’s mouth. Structured, serious—and then, unexpectedly, generous. Cascina del Monastero’s cellar holds Barolo back to the mid-1990s, proof these wines are built to wait. Drink this one tonight with patience and air, or forget it in the cellar for decades. Either way, this is the last time you’ll see it at $59. Not a trophy.
A timepiece that evolves in the bottle.
